Sixteen of Europe’s premier club teams converge on Nürnberg, Germany, this week to do battle at the 2026 ESF European Club Squash Championships.
Defending men’s champions Roehampton of England and women’s tile holders Paderborn of Germany are likely to be among the leading title contenders again, although strong challenges will come from across the continent.
The event, running from 23-26 September, will be hosted at Sportpark Nord Squash Club, which features an all-glass showcourt. You can watch live coverage for free at esfsquash.tv!

Men’s competition
England’s Jonah Bryant, listed in Roehampton’s line-up, is the highest-ranked player on the roster, but it remains to be seen whether the world no.10 recovers from the shoulder injury that has sidelined him since March.
Even potentially without Bryant, the London club looks strong, with Sam Osborne-Wylde (who made his England debut at this year’s European Team Championships), England veteran Adrian Waller, former world top-50 player Charlie Lee and recent Welsh Junior Open U19 champion Ronnie Hickling in the Roehampton ranks.
Also in Pool A are Spanish champions Algemesi headed by recent European Individual Championship bronze medallist Ivan Perez, and hosts Nürnberg who have Frenchman Edwin Clain as no.1. SRC Vaduz of Liechtenstein, who finished third in 2024, feature Peter Maier and his sons Patrick and David. Ultimate Squash Club of Luxembourg include promising Belgian junior Clement Lebrun.
Sportwerk Hamburg have a multi-national line-up including France’s young star Melvil Scianimanico (world no.31), Czechia’s Marek Panacek, German Yannick Omlor and Dutchman Sam Gerrits.
Galomar, from the Portuguese island of Madeira, are fronted by England’s Patrick Rooney, supported by captain Rui Soares and youngster Diego Pita.
Watsonians feature three members of Scotland’s team from April’s European Team Championships — John Meehan, Andrew Glen and Martin Ross — while Fitzwilliam LTC have a line-up of homegrown Irish talent including Alex Smith at no.1.

Women’s competition
The women’s event is a round-robin featuring seven teams with Paderborn tipped to defend the title they won for the first time last year in Graz. They have German national champion Saskia Beinhard and up-and-coming Maya Weishar in their team.
Scottish champions Heriot Watt feature their head coach, the 2010 World Team Championship winner and ex-world no.13 Donna Lobban (pictured above), plus Robyn McAlpine, who’s starting out on the PSA Tour after a stellar European junior circuit career.
Another familiar name is three-time Czech champion Anne Serme playing for SC Modry Svet, while the promising young Sabry sisters, Sara and Layla, star for Mount Pleasant LTC of Ireland.
The famous Pontefract club travels from West Yorkshire, England, with a largely homegrown line-up. They will jostle with Galomar of Portugal and Uster of Switzerland (a club which hosted the European Team Division 1&2 Championships in 2024).
